In what looks like a political Tsunami, 252 Special advisers and Special assistants appointed by Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state have resigned their appointments.
And they have decided to all returned to the All Progressives Congress, instead of working with the governor under a PDP government.
Alhaji Ibrahim Haske, a special adviser to the renegade governor and spokesman for all the aides, made the announcement at a news conference in Sokoto on Sunday.
He said they took the decision followed Gov. Tambuwal’s recent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Our appointment is based on the position that APC is the political party governing the state and now that the government belongs to PDP, we have no option other than to resign.
In his reaction, the APC Chairman in the state, Sadiq Achida, praised the former aides to Mr Tambuwal for their show of unalloyed loyalty to the party.
He said, “this kind of sacrifice by the special advisers is highly recommended and APC will surely reward them in future.”
The state government was yet to react to the defections at the time of the report.
