fayose-arrives-in-courtThe ex-Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose had been remanded in prison after appearing in a Lagos Court.

Fayose who is facing an 11 count charge of over N30 billion frauds by the EFCC with his company Spotless Investment LTD; plead not guilty to the charges. The EFCC accused Fayose of illegally receiving five million dollars which is about N18 billion Naira from the Office of the National Security Agency through the Minister of State of Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro. The investigation alleged that Fayose used the money to fund his re-election as the Governor of Ekiti State.

Fayose was remanded in prison as the Judge adjourned the case on hearing of the bail demand to 24 of October.

Fayose was returned to custody as he was reported to have fed the detainees as they sang the national anthem. Fayose also went further to provide legal representatives for some of the detainees who cannot help themselves with proper representation.

Fayose turned himself to the EFCC for questioning after he had promised to do so when he completes his tenure. The EFCC had invited him over for questioning when he was still a Governor and under the immunity clause.

He appeared in the headquarters of the EFCC amid mild drama accompanied by former Aviation minister, Fani Kayode and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. They handed over Fayose to the EFCC in good health as they claim and expect that he will be released in the same condition.

The former Minister of Aviation, Fani Kayode was present in court as Fayose was presented before the Judge in Lagos State. This is as he was round to provide support for his friend and observe the proceedings.

The EFCC believed that they have enough evidence against Fayose as they have credible witnesses that will attest to the case against him.
