The All Progressive Congress was formed in 2013 as a result of the merger of the Nigeria’s three major opposition political parties – the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN),  a faction of People Democratic Party (PDP)  and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The party gained huge followership across the country and several notable personalities including the former governors of Kwara State, Rivers State, Sokoto State, Adamawa State, and Kano State pitched their tent with the party. In the 2015 election, the party recorded a huge success as it won the presidential election and also won the majority of the seats at the Nation’s National Assembly.

APC chieftain tells PDP to support the “Next Level” agenda [September 12, 2019]

The former state chairman of the Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Davies Ikanaya in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) held on Thursday in Port Harcourt has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to support President Muhammadu Buhari administration rather than going ahead to appeal his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.

He advised the PDP and its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to support the “Next Level” agenda and that the tribunal’s judgment was an impressive signal of hope in the judiciary as reported by vanguard.

He said he was highly impressed with the Wednesday’s ruling by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and that the decision was indeed painstakingly delivered.

He further stated that the judges were meticulous and thorough in dealing with all issues raised in the petition and the counters and didn’t see the need for an appeal except for the purpose of concluding a judicial process.

Lai Mohammed advises Atiku to apologize to Nigerians [September 12, 2019]

The Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed on Thursday advised the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to fully apologize to Nigerians for wistfully distracting the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari with his frivolous election petitions.

The petition which was presented by the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar based on the February 23, Presidential Election was on Wednesday nullified by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT due to lack of true evidence to back up the party’s unfounded allegations.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Segun Adeyemi, Mr Lai said that PDP should be extremely grateful that it is not being prosecuted for coming to court with a fraudulently obtained evidence.

He further stated that Nigerians are tired of the orchestrated distraction and wish that the opposition has lost at the polls and the court would join hands with the government to move Nigeria to the next level.

FG committed to ending security challenges says Dingyadi [August 25th 2019]

On Thursday in Sokoto, when the State, Zonal and Local Governments Executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) paid the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Dingyadi a congratulatory visit says the FG is fully committed to improving the security situation in the country.

In his words, he stated that President Muhammadu Buhari would fulfil his key campaign promise of tackling the security challenges in the country, improving the economy as well as sustaining the anti-corruption fight.

He further solicited for the support of all well-meaning Nigerians to enable the government to succeed and stressed that all Nigerians are equal stakeholders in Nigeria’s project and should collectively work towards moving the country to the next level.

He praised President Buhari, APC leaders in the state, Senator Aliyu Wamakko as well as the party for putting tremendous confidence in him and pledged to live above board in the discharge of his responsibilities.

He also expressed optimism that the APC party will soon take over the helms of affair in the state and reverse the current obnoxious trend of underdevelopment and neglect.

APC denies paying N13 Million to suspected Kidnapper [Aug 25th 2019]

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has openly denied claims levelled by kidnap suspect, Alhaji Hamisu Balla also known as Wadume, that he was given N13 million by the party during the 2019 general election.

The spokesperson for the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu disassociates the ruling party from the suspected Kidnapper. In his statement, Onilu challenges Wadume to name the person he claims gave him the money.

He further stated that the party does not budget for political thugs.

Onilu who noted that the time when money was given to hoodlums ended with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenged the suspect to come out with the name of his supposed sponsor.

Mr. Wadume had allegedly confessed to receiving the whopping sum of N13 million from the APC but spent N7 million for the election, in addition, he also said he collected about N6 million from a sitting governor whose name was not disclosed.

APC expels National Secretary [July 18, 2019]

In a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Malam Lanre Issa-Oniru in Abuja on Thursday, he announced the expulsion of the National Vice Chairman of the Party (North West), Malam Inuwa Abdulkadir over anti-party activities.

The statement read: “The NWC of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has upheld the disciplinary actions of Magajin Gari “A” Ward, Sokoto North Local Government, and the Party’s Sokoto State Executive Committee on the Party’s National Vice Chairman (North West), Malam Inuwa Abdulkadir over anti-party activities.

“The party organs in Sokoto State have earlier expelled Abdulkadir and passed on their recommendation to the NWC for ratification.

“The decision to uphold the action of the Sokoto APC organs was taken at a meeting of the NWC held at the party’s national secretariat on Thursday,” the party spokesman said in the statement.

“Abdulkadir failed to utilize the opportunity to defend himself before the disciplinary committee set up by the NWC to look into the various petitions received against certain members of the party.

“Following the suspension of Abdulkadir, the NWC will subsequently forward the decision of the Sokoto State organs to the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for further actions.”

APC begins sale of nomination forms for Kogi, Bayelsa gubernatorial election [July 9, 2019]

The national executive leadership of APC has released a statement which indicates that interested individuals for the position of governor in these two states can now buy their nomination forms. The form would be available for sale from July 10, 2019.

The national secretary of the party released a statement expressively stating the price of the nomination form and the expression of interest. The nomination form goes for N20m while the expression of interest costs N2.5m.

According to the statement, the sale of form would start on the 10th of July 2019 and end on the 20th August 2019. It also stated that the submission of the form will end on the 21st August 2019 while screening of the candidates will start on the next day. Aspirants have the chance to appeal the screening result as from August 23. The primary election will hold on the 29th August 2019 while election appeal is set to hold on September 2.
