Tribunal orders rerun Of Osun PDP federal, state lawmakers election by Cynthia Victor [September 02, 2019]

The Tribunal in Osun State on Monday cancelled elections in twelve polling units across four local government areas as a result of over-voting.

An election rerun was ordered because after the cancellation of elections in units were over voting was established, the margin of the victory between the winner and petitioner, Mr Adejare Bello of APC was lesser than the number of registered voters in the affected units as reported by vanguard.

The tribunal which was presided over by Justice Eyo Ita had subsequently nullified the election of Mr Bamidele Salam after resolving the relief sought by the petitioner against him.

Also, the election of the State lawmaker representing Ede-North constituency, Mr Babajide Kofowora which was challenged by Daud Akinloye of the APC was nullified by the tribunal.

The State Assembly Election for Obokun state constituency was also declared inconclusive by the tribunal.

In reaction to the judgement, Hon. Salam urged his supporters to remain calm as the tribunal judgment was is in his favour for a sweet victory.

The Bayelsa governorship aspirants Of PDP, Alaibe & Okoko Denies luring delegates through fake bank alerts by Cynthia Victor [September 02, 2019]

The State PDP chairman, Cleopas Moses on Sunday in his statement openly accused the Bayelsa governorship aspirants, Chief Timi Alaibe and Pastor Keniebi Okoko of sending fake bank alerts to some delegates in a bid to buy their votes in the primary election of the party.

In response to the allegation levelled against them, both aspirants in a separate statement issued on Sunday in Yenegoa dismissed the allegation as a smear of the campaign.

Alaibe’s Campaign Organization Admin Secretary, Prof Seiyefa Brisibe clearly denied the allegation saying that there must have been a mistake for such an evil allegation to be levelled against Alaibe and other aspirants.

He further stated that there is no truth whatsoever in the careless and irresponsible allegation, and it is sign of dirty politics taken too far which should be completely ignored.

He said that Timi Alaibe has an impeccable reputation both in private and public service and accusing him of criminal activity would not be taken likely and ignored.

Also, Keniebi Okoko said he had never been associated with fraudulent acts and threatened to seek redress in court.

PDP blasts Buhari over growing insecurity by Cynthia Victor [August 31, 2019]

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan on Sunday made it known that the Buhari Presidency is all about bark and no bite in the sense that his administration is all about issuing condemnations, publishing commiserations and embarking on condolence visits with empty assurances but takes no decisive steps to end bloodletting and guarantee a stable, peaceful and secure nation.

The party said that President Buhari has failed woefully to organize his parade and articulate a decisive and operable strategy to effectively end violence in our nation.

The PDP laments that instead of Buhari Presidency to seek help and yield to competent and patriotic counsel from well-meaning Nigerians, it has remained heavy on propaganda and false performance indices.

The party further stressed on the nation been jolted by the shocking news of avoidable violence, mindless killings, loss of breadwinners and murder of promising citizens.

The party immensely commends the sacrifices of our gallant troops who are risking their lives to secure other citizens and call on Nigerians to be more alert and prayerful.

The Peoples Democratic Party was founded by diverse organizations and members. It prides itself as the largest political party in Africa. PDP was formed by members of the organization who opposed the military regime of General Sani Abacha. It was formed in August 1998 in preparation of the 1999 election.

The first chairman of the party was Alex Ekwueme while Professor Jerry Gana served as the General Secretary. They won the presidential election in the 1999 election and also won a majority of the seats in the National Assembly convincingly. However, the party lost its hold of the presidential seat in the 2015 election.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) represented by their spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan while receiving a coalition of Young Professionals in Abuja clearly stated that the general expectation pervading the nation was that the judiciary as the last hope of the common man would be undaunted in addressing the substance of petition by its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the collective quest to retrieve a stolen mandate through the legal process.

He further said that the party have made a solid case before the panel and its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar had also presented his case supported by clear evidence to show that their presidential mandate was stolen.

It was made known by the party that Nigerians are seriously looking up to the judiciary to have the courage to do justice in the presidential election tribunal.

PDP claimed that gunmen attacked their witnesses going to the presidential election petition tribunal by Oni Olatunji [July 12, 2019]

The judges presiding over the presidential election petition tribunal in Abuja had to cut short the session due to claims made by the petitioner counsels that their witnesses scheduled to testify on Friday were attacked by miscreants. They claimed that these criminals ambushed them when travelling from Zamfara to Abuja.

Due to this challenge, the petitioner’s lawyers requested an adjournment of the court session which was duly granted by the tribunal.

Witness faults results of presidential election claimed by PDP at the tribunal Oni Olatunji [July 18, 2019]

A witness, Lawal Mohammed Danja, who was invited by the tribunal, has revealed that the results quoted by the petitioners are not genuine. He stated this when he was under cross-examination by Buhari lawyer.

It should be noted that both Atiku and PDP had earlier ascertained the fact that the APC defeated them in the presidential election and stated it clearly in their petition. However, Danja disputed this fact.
