Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central, has stated that he will be contesting for 2019 despite resigning from the ruling party, All Progressive Party, APC.
Shehu Sani had earlier announced that he had resigned from the All Progressive Congress, APC in his letter to the party. Shehu Sani resigned from the party as he had a problem with the State national leader and the Governor of the State, El Rufai.
Sani said: “This is to thank all my supporters and friends for the show of solidarity and assurances of support over my decision to exit the APC.
This dispute made the Senator lose out on securing a ticket to contest for the 2019 election. After, the state chapter of the party denied him the automatic ticket assured him by the National party leadership.
However, Shehu Sani in a recent development stated that he will be contesting for the Kaduna Central senatorial position. Senator Shehu Sani made this known on his Facebook page, although he did not state the party, he will be contesting under.
“I assure you that in the next two days, you will be informed of my new party. And be rest assured I will contest in the upcoming elections Insha Allah.”
Senator Shehu Sani and the Governor of Kaduna state had been on loggerhead and had continued to undermine each other. The Governor earlier revealed that he was asked by the Presidency to initiate a recall process on the Senator. The governor, however, admitted that they sidetracked on the recall process after due analysis on the cost effect.
The Presidency, then denied any knowledge of any recall process of the Senator representing Kaduna Central. And although the senator was promised an automatic ticket for his refusal to decamp from the party, the state chapter of the party denied to offer him the automatic ticket.
