The Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike warned the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress that they cannot repeat what happened in Ekiti and Osun states.
The All Progressive Congress won those two major elections, as they pave way for the 2019 General election. These victories had made the ruling party confident that they will likely win in states like Rivers and Delta, where they have never won before and had always been the PDP stronghold.
Nyesom Wike through the People Democratic Party official twitter handle stated that the APC cannot repeat that feat in Rivers State.
He said, “Let me warn the All Progressives Congress that we are prepared for the elections. And let no one make mistakes that what happened in OSUN and EKITI states, will happen in Rivers State. We are prepared to take it to any level that they want’.
Nyesom Wike is very confident of returning as the Governor of the state after he had recently clinched the ticket of the PDP to contest for the governorship election in 2019.
Despite Rivers State being a stronghold of the PDP since 1999, the APC, especially the chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole is very confident that the party will secure victory all over the states in the general elections.
He boasted right after the Osun State election, that the recent victories of the party in the just concluded polls are a sign of more victories to come. However, the APC factions in Rivers State are divided with reports of two governorship candidates emerging from the state’s APC.
Rivers state will also be hosting the People Democratic Party primary election for the Presidential ticket of the party. This is despite several moves from some aspirant and party members to have the venue changed from Rivers state which Nyesom Wike objected to frantically.
