Atiku Abubakar is a serial entrepreneur, politician, and philanthropist. He was the former vice president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under President Obasanjo led administration. He has always been a serial presidential candidate under different parties but has been unsuccessful in his various attempts.
He is currently challenging the 2019 election won by President Buhari in the tribunal claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced entirely different results from what he obtained from their server.
INEC produces documents at the tribunal [July 18, 2019]
The Independent National Electoral Commission today, produced some of the documents requested by the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The tribunal had earlier ordered INEC to ensure that the documents are presented before the tribunal by noon on Thursday.
Earlier, several complaints by the petitioners that the subpoenas issued and served on the INEC officials had not been complied with. The counsel to INEC at the tribunal, Yunus Usman, informed the court that the documents requested by the PDP and its presidential candidate had been substantially produced.
Poverty is growing rapidly under Buhari – Atiku [July 14, 2019]
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of PDP in the 2019 general election said that the report published on July 11 by the United Nations Development Programme, which established that at least 98 million of Nigerians were living in abject poverty was disturbing. He said the reports showed that poverty had risen above the normal level in Nigeria under the Buhari administration.
According to the statement made by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, he stated that there was a compelling and urgent need for various units of the government to curb this disturbing menace without any delay.
